The MKast - Series 2, Episode 2 (Part 3 of 4)

Another episode of The MKast surfaced today, where the design team talks more about different elements in the game such as combo breakers, some of the different throws and how each character has a very distinct fighting style. More than that, there is a lot of really awesome footage in this MKast, namely the Kung Lao combos which you've gotta see. Check out the full video below!

Mortal Kombat Environment Bio No. 2: The Living Forest

The second Mortal Kombat stage bio video from NetherRealm Studios is here, and it happens to be for one of my absolute favorite stages in the series, the Living Forest.  Like the previous bio, this vid gives some really cool background fiction on the stage. The fiction for these stages is pretty good, and in my opinion adds to the game's atmosphere.

If you aren't interested in background fiction, watch the video for the new Mortal Kombat footage within! Check it out after the jump!

Seasons Beatings UMK3 Grand Finals: REo vs MOE30w

Seasons Beatings is one of the last standing tournaments to hold a Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 tournament. With Mortal Kombat 9 around the corner this is one of the last UMK3 tournaments in a long time.

All Competitors played on a UMK3 cabinet modded to use a PlayStation controller for the pad players to compete. The UMK3 board does not allow you to stream the video but Sp00ky found a way to gather video footage for this event.

Possible European Boxart for Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection (UPDATE: Includes Demo for Mortal Kombat 2011?)

French website jeuxvideo posted what appears to be the European box art for the still officially unannounced Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Collection.

UPDATE!: The red text on the upper left of the box apparently says, in French, that this game will include a demo for Mortal Kombat 2011! More details inside full article.

The game has a "3D Compatible Game Video" logo on the lower right.  We have not heard any news or rumors of an Xbox 360 version of the title, so it appears to be a Playstation 3 exclusive for now.

The cover also confirms that Mortal Komat 1, 2, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 are parts of the compilation.

They also posted a release date of November 18th for 30 Euros (around $40).

More Evidence for Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection Surfaces

More evidence has surfaced about an upcoming Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection.  Major UK retailer Game has the game listed for pre-order. It offers a release date of September 2010 but no further information.

TRMK also reports that Ingram Entertainment, a retail distributor, has the game listed for pre-booking. Pre-booking is what a store does to place advanced orders for customers.  TRMK provided this screenshot from the system:

A release date of November 17th was in this system, and there is no indication thus far of a version for the Xbox 360.  TRMK poses two likely scenarios. It could be part of Sony's Playstation 3 HD Collection series of titles (God of War HD Collection and upcoming Sly Cooper HD Collection), or it could be some sort of timed exclusive.  If it isn't tied to the former, 100% exclusivity is unlikely.

PAX: Mortal Kombat Gameplay Videos and Hands-on impressions

A slew of new Mortal Kombat videos surfaced today from PAX, though most of them are shaky cam footage and truthfully it's hard to make out what is going on. That said, one video made it out in one piece that gives a clear look at the new Mortal Kombat.  You can check out the others over at SRK.

Though the graphics are certainly impressive, it appears there are some goofy hit boxes in the game. If you check out some of the ranges on the sweeps the actual hit box seems to go much further than the model of the characters. Also, once the characters are up close and fighting the pace of the game seems fairly quick, but from long range, a lot of attacks look somewhat slow to me. Keep in mind, this game is in development, and even with Street Fighter 4 it took months of players figuring out attack patterns for the pace of the game to pick up.

PAX: New Mortal Kombat Interview With Ed Boon

Destructoid put together an interview with Ed Boon, though there isn't too much new info here. Most of it is, again, how they are going back to their roots and give Mortal Kombat fans what they are looking for.

He also mentions that if it was up to him, there would be a mix of free and paid DLC, but it sounds like the cost of the DLC is completely out of his control so we'll see what happens there. April, 2011 -- get hype!
