Mortal Kombat: Jade & Kitana vs Sindel & Mileena Tag Team Trailer

A new trailer for Mortal Kombat hit the web today, this time featuring a tag team battle of Jade & Kitana vs Sindel & Mileena. Just like virtually all of the other trailers, there is a lot of brutal stuff in this one, though I have to say the final X-Ray move in this one is especially cringe-worthy. Thanks to TheUltimateRyu for the YouTube upload!

Mortal Kombat: Interview with Hans Lo and Erin Piepergerdes by Dr Jackal

Dr Jackal put together a cool little interview with Mortal Kombat 9 producer Hans Lo and associate producer Erin Piepergerdes. The interview covers a number of topics that I'm sure you guys will be interested in, from bringing in tournament-level players to help ensure the game launches as balanced as possible, to a bit of info on the hooks NetherRealm put in place to allow for quick turn-around times on balance adjustments.

It's a pretty good interview, so give it a look when you have a moment to spare.

Rumor for Those Why Buy Used Games: Mortal Kombat's Online Multiplayer May Require "Online Pass" to Play

I guess the "online pass" is becoming less of a trend and is moving ever more toward becoming the standard.  Joystiq has learned from sources that Mortal Kombat may require an "online pass" to play online multiplayer.  If you buy the game new, the box will allegedly contain an "online pass" token that must be redeemed before you can play online multiplayer. If you buy the game used, however, you may have to purchase this pass if you want to do the same.

This has absolutely no effect on those who are buying new copies, so don't worry if you are doing that.  This move is aimed at those who buy used copies.  If you buy the game used and the previous owner has already redeemed the code, you will have to purchase an "online pass" in order to get that online multiplayer.

Image Showing Every Stage in Mortal Kombat: Impressive!

The more stages that are in a fighting game, the better.  More stages add visual variety to the gameplay and make things more interesting in general.  RyanPleasure has put together a single image that has a thumbnail of every stage in Mortal Kombat, and I was truly shocked!  It is truly impressive to see this many stages in the game.  Some are fan favorites from past games and some are new.  It's a good mix, IMO. Very nice work, NetherRealm! This game just keeps delivering above and beyond my expectations!

Thanks to SRK for the tip on the image and to RyanPleasure for putting it together.

UPDATE: Mortal Kombat DLC Characters

Yesterday I posted the news (via GamePro, CVG) that the first round of DLC for Mortal Kombat would include Kintaro, Lady in Red and Kenshi. The "Lady in Red" and Kenshi have since been confirmed by NetherRealm, but it appears that the info from GamePro regarding Kintaro was wrong.

When I posted the article yesterday, I had apparently mistaken what producer Hans Lo said at the end of CVG's interview -- before it was removed -- as confirmation that Kintaro was in the works as DLC. As TRMK points out, CVG stated that Kintaro was planned, but didn't go into any detail beyond that. At any rate, that info is incorrect.

Mortal Kombat: First DLC Characters Revealed

In the latest issue of GamePro, NetherRealm confirmed the first round of DLC characters due out for Mortal Kombat shortly after release. The DLC is said to include Kintaro, Lady in Red and Kenshi from Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. The feature didn't say just when we can expect this first round of characters.

Shortly after the news broke, NetherRealm developer Hans Lo spoke with CVG to confirm the reveal and provided a little background on the mysterious "Lady in Red". Here's what he had to say:

Mortal Kombat: Kratos Gameplay Trailer

GameSpot just released the first official gameplay trailer of Kratos that we've seen so far -- aside from the brief bit of cam footage we saw yesterday, of course. The video runs for a little over a minute and actually gives us a pretty good feel for how Kratos will play. Interestingly, NetherRealm even decided to include at least one quick time event for Kratos just to remind you that he was, in fact, from God of War. You know, in case you forgot.

Do you like what you see? Let us know!
