DOA5: Japanese Collectors Edition to Include Download Code for 12 "Premium Sexy Costumes"

Andria Sang is reporting that TECMO KOEI will release a very "special" collectors edition for Dead or Alive 5 in Japan. The CE will cost about $120 (¥11,340) and will contain an art book, original soundtrack CD, 8 character post cards, ten special character metal plates and a download code for twelve "Premium Sexy Costumes".

Both the standard and collectors edition will ship with download codes for "Sexy Costumes" for both Ayane and Kasumi but these are different from the "Premium Sexy Costumes". The premium costumes will be available as paid DLC at a later date post-launch.

Dead or Alive 5 Release Date Set for September 25th, Two Weeks After Tekken Tag Tournament 2

TECMO KOEI announced today that Dead or Alive 5 will be coming to consoles September 25th. The game is already looking great with many character reveals over the past few months, not to mention a few Virtua Fighter characters making their way into the mix as well.

Keep in mind that this release date is just two weeks after Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Do you think the visual style of DOA5 will be enough to sway consumers to pick it up over NAMCO's flagship 3D fighter?

DOA5: Lei Fang and Zack Confirmed, New Gameplay Footage Coming this Friday

The latest issue of Famitsu contains screenshots of two new additions to the Dead or Alive 5 roster: Lei Fang and Zack. Big surprise, I know!

This is a leak as TECMO-KOEI's European Community Manager Chin Soon Sun mentioned on Twitter that the announcement has not even been officially made in Japan just yet.

Chin Soon Sun made another tweet that they have some new footage of the game locked and loaded, ready to go on Friday the 25th. Keep an eye for that as it will most likely contain our first official look at these additional characters.

DOA5: Bayman and Christie Confirmed, New Gameplay Footage

A new Dead or Alive gameplay video surfaced today revealing both Bayman and Christie fighting in an urban warzone. Much like previous trailers, this features in-game footage with the characters fighting in dynamic stages that change depending on various conditions.

Overall I think the game is looking great, regardless of how simple it may be from a gameplay standpoint. I feel this is going to be a huge hit with casual fans due to its visual style alone. Check out the full trailer after the jump!

DOA5: Finger Cramp Pre-Play Features 20 Minutes of In-Game Footage

The Finger Cramp crew got their hands on an alpha demo of Dead or alive 5 and give us a good 20 minute look at the game. Overall they say it plays too much like the previous DOA titles, lacks depth and doesnt really bring anything new to the table. That said, they mention it's very fluid and looks great which I personally think will be a huge draw for many casual fans of the genre. Even I'm tempted to give the game a shot after watching that last trailer that featured Akira Yuki!

DOA5: New Gameplay Trailer and Screenshots

While it's yet to be seen whether or not Dead or Alive 5 will be a serious competitive fighter, I have to say at the very least it's pretty entertaining to watch. Tecmo Koei released another gameplay trailer between Ayane and Hitomi, that shows them fighting in the same industrial setting as before, but with a few new surprises.

NEW DEAD OR ALIVE 5 SCREENSHOTS

A batch of screenshots from the trailer featuring Virtua Fighter's Akira Yuki were released as well. Check those out at the link above and view the new trailer below!

Dead or Alive 5 May Have More Cross Over Characters, Akira to Play Just Like VF Counterpart

Andria Sang is reporting that Dead or Alive 5 may end up having more crossover characters added to its roster besides just Akira Yuki from Virtua Fighter. In an interview with Famitsu, Team Ninja's Yousuke Hayashi mentions that since they went through all the hard work to get Akira into the game that they probably wont stop there and will try to have other guest characters make an appearance as well.

While this initial collaboration is with SEGA, he wasn't clear if the future characters would also be from Virtua Fighter or other franchises entirely.

It's also worth noting that he says Akira's commands in DOA are virtually the same as they are in the Virtua Fighter series.

DOA5: Ryu Hayabusa's 2P Costume Inspired by Old School NES Game

Team Ninja posted a new screenshot from Dead or Alive 5 via Twitter, showing off Ryu Hayabusa's 2P outfit, which is based off of the old school Ninja Gaiden games for the NES. Some of you reading this might be a little too young to remember those games, but damn were they a pain in the ass!

On a related note, it's been a little quiet on the DOA5 front. Are you guys still looking forward to the game or has it fallen off the radar already?
