Our first NO MERCY Fridays at Southtown Arcade was a huge success with 3D fighting game fans coming from all parts of the Bay Area to compete in Tekken 6, Soul Calibur V and Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown. We're back this week with the next tournament in the ranbat series and we hope for it to be just as poppin' -- if not more! The action starts at 7PM PDT with Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown and continues with Soul Calibur V and Tekken 6 at 9PM PDT. Check out all the matches on our TwitchTV channel or if you're in the area be sure to come out and compete!

Famitsu released a handful of new screenshots for the latest instalment of the BlazBlue series, Chrono Phantasma. These screenshots feature Tsubaki who has received somewhat of a makeover due to some shifts in the storyline. Check out all the new images at the link below.
Due to the time differences all across the world I know many of you probably weren't able to catch the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Global Tournament Asia Qualifier live this past weekend. I'm back in the states now and just cut up the top 4 for Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition and put them on YouTube. These matches are seriously some of the most high level I've seen in quite sometime with some amazing play from GamerBee, Gackt, Poongko and of course Infiltration! Not to be missed!

Melty Blood developer French Bread released a new set of gameplay videos for their upcoming arcade title Under Night In-Birth (pronounced inverse). These videos contain gameplay for all the character that have been announced so far. Under Night In-Birth has a Fall 2012 release date so it should be hitting arcades soon!
After checking out the videos what do you think? Hope to give this game a try in the near future or not your style? Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of anime fighters but I think it's looking pretty good so far!

Another quick reminder that the Asia qualifier for the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Global Tournament series is this weekend! There have already been many preliminary qualifiers in this region so far and they've boiled it down to the top 8 and top 4 for SSF4, 3s, SF x TK and ST! Many of Asia's top players such as GamerBee, Infiltration and Poongko and many others will be competing for a trip to the Grand Finals in San Francisco come December!

Another reminder that the Taiwanese qualifier for the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Global Tournament series is this weekend and if you are curious as to when you can catch all the action live, we've got a full schedule for you below! Although the tournament is on Sunday in Taiwan, the live stream will be up Saturday evening for those of you living in North America. If any of you watched the UMVC3 portion of Team Spooky's Big Two last night you probably saw this glitch where the game refused to go to the KO screen for an extended period of time even though MarlinPie's team was completely wiped out. This occurred as TS NerdJosh was firing off Soul Fists against MarlinPie's Amaterasu which was his last character.

TECMO KOEI released a bunch of new media for Dead or Alive 5 this morning including brand new gameplay trailers featuring Helena and Lisa, not to mention a handful of new screenshots. They mention that this is the near final build of the game and the people playing are pro-players so it should give you a good idea as to what to expect when you get your hands on the game come September. They also included a quick rundown of each characters play style which you can find after the jump.

Hey guys! Just a quick reminder that the Street Fighter 25th Global Tournament Series continues this week with a qualifier in Taiwan! We'll be flying out tomorrow to get things set up and as always you can catch the stream on Capcom Unity come Sunday. I'll post a full schedule as soon as possible.
We'll have more details on this event over the course of the next few days but in the meantime hit the jump for a full player list!
Publisher Zen United is trying to bring Persona 4: Arena to Europe but it sounds like they have hit a few snags along the way and players in that region will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the game. In a recent statement they say the delay is due to "development issues" that they aren't directly involved with and any release dates that are floating around online are purely speculation. They mention that when they have a solid release date they will let the community know as soon as possible.

The event goes down September 15th at UC Santa Barbara with the live stream being produced by IPLAYWINNER. We'll have more exciting details very, very soon but in the meantime what are your predictions so far? Hit the comments and let us know your thoughts!
Desk uploaded a pretty cool video today that showcases some new tech for an old game. In Vanilla SF4, characters could set up unblockable Ultras due to the fact that the opponent would be unable to block during the Ultra freeze animation. With Chun-Li, he discovered a way you can put the opponent into block stun and push them into her Kikouken to break their guard and land a full unscaled Ultra. A little hard to explain so just go ahead and watch the video to see what is all about!
IGN uploaded the latest episode of Dead or Alive 5's Fighter Chronicles where many of the game's key developers talk about the hurdles of re-examining and redesigning many of the characters look and attacks. They also touch on the Virtua Fighter character crossover and the process they took with SEGA to get them into the game. Check out the full episode after the jump.

Aris over at Avoiding the Puddle posted up a very interesting video that surfaced on YouTube for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 recently. It showcases some new tech with Armor King where you execute his fire breathing attack mid-combo for an unblockable setup. Check out the video after the jump!

Andria Sang is reporting that the console version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus is coming to both PSN and XBLA in late October. Keep in mind that this version will be based off of the PS2 build of the game and is not the same as the "R" version that Japanese arcades will be picking up in late September.That being said, the console release will receive an update after launch that will bring it up to date with the arcade version of the game. No word just yet on a time frame for the patch.
Gamespot posted up a quick three minute demo for a few of the newly announced characters who are returning to the Dead or Alive universe, Brad Wong and Eliot. This video will give you a look at their fighting styles with a bit of commentary that talks about the thought process behind designing them for Dead or Alive 5. Check it out after the jump.

Andria Sang posted up some info on Dead or Alive 5 from an interview that appeared in Famitsu featuring Team Ninja's Yousuke Hayashi where he mentions that there are more character announcements on the way. Some of these new characters -- which are apparently a mix of both Virtua Fighter and Dead or Alive characters -- will have to be unlocked by playing the game (boo!) so we probably wont hear about them until after the game is released.
