Misango brings a sting to ARMS in version 4.0

ARMS version 4.0 has been released, bringing with it a new character, stage and more ARMS for use in battle.

The new character is Misango, whose home stage is the debuting Temple Grounds arena. Misango's special ability in ARMS revolves around the mysterious entity that floats above him: he can absorb it to gain special powers.

Misango can choose to simply absorb the entity or use it first as a shield then absorb it, and depending on its color when absorbed he will either gain armor (red), increased mobility (blue) or "the ability to automatically block all incoming blows for a short period of time upon activating his rush combo" (yellow).

Misango arrives with three new ARMS all that use poison. The Scorpio crawls on the ground or turns into a disc in the air before delivering a poisonous stab; the Glusher is a heavy weapon that bounces once or twice before smashing the opponent; and the Skully is one of the fastest attacks in the game, but can be knocked aside by heavier ARMS.

For more information on the ARMS 4.0 update, readers can check out the Nintendo Treehouse Log. The Misango trailer can be found after the jump.

Geese shows off predictable strength in Tekken 7 gameplay footage

Just days before attendees of the Tekken World Tour finals will have the chance to try him out, Geese Howard has been featured in five minutes of gameplay footage from Gamespot.

The video shows how many of Geese's trademark moves, including specials like repukken, shipukken and jaei ken, have translated into the third dimension. It also shows how his meter will work, as Geese can gain up to three bars during a match. That meter can either be spent to activate Max Mode, which seemingly allows him a cancel much like Akuma's for one bar, or used for supers that seem to cost two bars.

More information on the character will become available during the Tekken World Tour finals on Nov. 12. For now, readers can check out the clip after the jump.

Injustice Watchtower raises a little hell with gameplay overview

During the Injustice Watchtower stream on Nov. 6, NetherRealm Studios revealed gameplay details for the next character joining Injustice 2 on Nov. 14, Hellboy.

Fans of past NRS characters like Jason and Doomsday will find something to enjoy in Hellboy, as the character features pieces of each. Hellboy has both ground and anti-air command grabs, a small zoning tool in his gun and a gap-closing attack in his dashing shoulder check. He also has a leap move that ends in a low attack but that can be cancelled into an air dash or into normal jumping moves to create a mixup.

Hellboy's trait offers him four temporary options: he can either increase his damage output, reduce damage taken, give himself armor or activate a charm that will resurrect him if he dies before the trait runs out.

Readers can check out more about Hellboy, including a detailed breakdown of his normals, from the stream archive after the jump. The Hellboy footage starts at roughly 36 minutes.

Canada Cup Gaming issues lifetime bans over bracket tampering

Canada Cup Gaming has released a statement following rules violations that occurred during Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite at Canda Cup 2017 in late October.

During the event, Jose Aldape—formerly known as "Quackbot" and now using the handle "PC Marvel God"—played in two separate MvCI pools, first his own and then taking the place of Lina "Holy Order-Troll" Crawford in a separate pool. This was no accident, as Aldape later admitted he deserved punishment and Crawford saw no problem with giving him her spot. Because of the tampering, the second pool had to be replayed.

After deliberation, Canada Cup Gaming has banned both players for life from its events. According to a statement from CCG, "players who misrepresent themselves under another player’s gamertag or multiple gamertags (with and without consent) undermine the legitimacy of tournament events." Canada Cup also offered apologies to those affected by the two players' actions.

Readers can check out the full statement from CCG after the jump.

Arc System Works America, Inc., is located in Torrance, California. According to company president Minoru Kidooka, the new location will allow ASW to "better be able to open the channels of communication between fan and developer, ensuring your voices are heard and most importantly applied."

"I look forward to our latest challenge of establishing a new branch and continuing to develop exciting and innovative experiences for all the fans who made this next stage in our company’s history possible,” Kidooka said.

Dragon Balls not inert on DBFZ stream, Shenron's abilities revealed

A recent Bandai Namco stream has revealed the abilities that can be chosen by the player who collects the Dragon Balls in Dragon Ball FighterZ.

The reveal of Shenron's gifts seems to have been a mistake, as the stream immediately cut away from the action once the balls were activated. However, many viewers including Twitter user HiFight capped the footage and determined the four choosable abilities: up grants full health recovery, left revives a teammate, right gives "ultimate power" and down gives "immortality."

None of these rewards, or the method to activate each of the Dragon Balls, was explained on the stream and it's possible that these abilities are not final given the game's developmental status. That said, it's an interesting glimpse into what players might be working toward when DBFZ releases on Jan. 26, 2018.

The stream also included footage of recent additions Tien, Captain Ginyu, Nappa and Yamcha. Readers can check out the footage, which starts at one hour and five minutes, after the jump.
