Resolving Mortal Kombat 9's Desynch Issues, PS3 Patch Coming Week of July 4th

Ed Boon addressed via Twitter today the de-synchronization issue that has recently plagued online play for Mortal Kombat 9. This is directly tied to a problem with original download of the retail exclusive pre-order Klassic Skins. If you've encountered this problem they posted up a fix for the 360 version of the game, and also mention that a patch is coming for PS3 the week of July 4th.

Mortal Kombat on The Daily Show with John Stewart

You might have heard recently about the US Supreme Court striking down the ban on selling violent video games to minors. John Stewart on The Daily Show put together a small sketch about this, and at the center of it all is Mortal Kombat 9. They use both Noob's X-Ray and Wishbone Fatality on Sonya Blade in this segment, arguably two of the most brutal cinematics in the game, to get their point across.

Mortal Kombat: Kenshi Character Vignette

1UP just posted a character vignette fo Mortal Kombat's upcoming DLC character, Kenshi. Like the pre-release character vignettes before it, this one focuses more on the character's story than anything else, but there's still a healthy dose of gameplay to be found in the video.

Xbox 360 Version of Mortal Kombat Patched: Impressions by TheSixthAxis

A patch for the Xbox 360 version of Mortal Kombat is now live. The patch was released for the Playstation 3 earlier in the month.  It is not 100% certain what kind of balance changes or tweaks are in this patch.  We are contacting NetherRealm now to see if we can get details, and will pass that along if we learn more.  It does patch the netcode, however, and for the Xbox 360 version at least the netcode appears to have improved from what I am seeing over twitter and on various impressions I am reading around the webs.

Mortal Kombat: Jade Breakdown by Duneboo

If you've been trying to pick up Jade but can't quite wrap your mind around how to use her properly, or if you just need tips to improve your game, Duneboo has an excellent video tutorial that you'll want to check out. Mortal Kombat: DLC News! Skarlet Release Date, New Costumes, Rain Announced!

The first DLC character for Mortal Kombat, the blood-craving Skarlet, finally has a release date.  She will be available to download on Playstation Network and Xbox Marketplace on June 21, 2011!  In a trailer (found inside this article), you'll see a really cool backstory for the character.  The end of the trailer teases three other characters.  The first one is Kenshi, and the next one is Rain! The last one is still hidden.  The trailer says that Skarlet is available to download now, but she isn't. She will be available at the above date.

Mortal Kombat: Skarlet Gameplay from Test Your Might!

A new gameplay video featuring Skarlet, the first DLC character coming soon to Mortal Kombat, has been uploaded by CaliMaestro at Test Your Might.  Don't expect any top level play here or anything, but the video does a good job of showing Skarlet's intro sequence, special moves, and one of her fatalities!  The fatality is suitably gruesome.  Ow, my ear! Good stuff.

E3: Ed Boon Interviewed by GT.TV: Mortal Kombat DLC Plans and More!

NetherRealm's Ed Boon was interviewed during the GT.TV live broadcast at E3.  During the interview he talks extensively about their DLC plans for Mortal Kombat as well as some other juicy topics.  If you are a fan of the game, you will be pleased to find out that there is a lot coming down the pipeline through the summer and that if you buy the DLC, even more might be planned. MK9 - Hot Fix Patch Part 2 Notes For Tuesday

Test Your Might via Tom Brady posted up a list of patch notes for Mortal Kombat 9 that we can expect come Tuesday. There are some major nerfs all around, with Kung Lao's Spin being far more punishable on block, less advantage off of Cyrax's Command throw, Kabal's Block infinite removed and more. There is also a small note at that mentions the netplay will be improved as well. To what degree, we'll have to find out come Tuesday. Mortal Kombat: Skarlet DLC Trailer

NetherRealm promised last week that we'd get to see Skarlet in action today, and it looks like they've come through with their promise. IGN released the debut trailer for upcoming DLC character Skarlet over on their site earlier this morning.

The trailer shows off a whole bunch of gameplay, but unfortunately we're left without any release date or pricing at the moment -- just a promise that we'll be seeing more at E3 in June.

MK9 - Kung Lao Infinite by Doctrine Dark

Doug the Thug just sent over a video showcasing an infinite for Kung Lao that was discovered by Doctrine Dark. It utilizes his Teleport and standing Back Punch, looping the two over and over again. This will of course be patched at some point but still worth checking out nonetheless.

Xbox Live Getting New Mortal Kombat Avatar Outfits This June

According to the official Mortal Kombat Twitter account, NetherRealm will be releasing a set of Mortal Kombat-themed avatar items on June 2. The type of avatar items will include things like t-shirts, hats and full-blown costumes. If you've ever wanted your avatar to be sporting Raiden's hat, soon you'll have your wish.

Mortal Kombat: Klassic Skin DLC Trailer, Release Date

NetherRealm Studios released the trailer for the recently-revealed Klassic Skin DLC, offering all of the 'klassic' skins previously exclusive as a pre-order bonus through various outlets. In case you missed the news the first time around, the DLC will include the classic costumes for Scorpion, Sub Zero, Reptile, Ermac, Kitana, Mileena and Jade, and will also include the three classic fatalities for Scorpion, Sub Zero and Reptile.

The Klassic Skin DLC pack releases June 7 and will set you back 400 Microsoft Points or $4.99 when PlayStation Store functionality returns. Check out the trailer after the break.
