Omen, Herald of Gargos, Coming to Killer Instinct

In the most recent textual stream for Microsoft and Iron Galaxy's Killer Instinct, the new character Omen was announced as a bonus character for owners of Season 2 of KI. As a bonus character, Omen is not initially being offered separately and will instead be a gift to owners of the second season.

Omen is based on the boss version of Shadow Jago, but has been redesigned to be its own separate entity. The post showed only a partial picture of Omen, showing a clawed wing and hand emitting energy. The character is also said to be "one of the best zoning characters in KI… situationally." Omen will be previewed in a gameplay stream and then a full trailer in the upcoming weeks.

Hit the jump for a small overview of the character from Ultra-Combo.

Third Killer Instinct Season 2 Character Kan-Ra Coming Late November, No Plans for PC Version

Here is what's in store for the next Killer Instinct character.

Premiering in Season 2, Kan-Ra will be playable on Nov. 24 for Ultra Edition users while Combo Breaker players will get access on Nov. 30. The mummified Babylonian has been teased to be a "trap grappler" character with his weapons utilizing "dark magic" and "matter manipulation."

The report also clarified some questions asked by the community. After the recent Xbox 360 test build reveal, Iron Galaxy Studios chose not to continue development as it affected the Xbox One version. A PC version is considered, but IGS is focused on making Season 2 at the moment.

Lone Wolf: A Talk With Japanese Player OGTY About Playing Killer Instinct & The Upcoming Release In His Homeland

Various Killer Instinct players group together at EVO 2014. OGTY featured in the bottom middle. When it comes to fighting games in Japan, Sony's PlayStation consoles have been the platforms to play and practice on when not in an arcade. Microsoft's Xbox consoles generally haven't been received, or sold, as well as the PlayStation but has its small share of folks including top Street Fighter IV players. For many other fighters, though, developers are more likely to make a game for the PlayStation only. In addition to the console preference, fighting game players in the land of the rising sun tend to engage in games made in their homeland despite efforts of U.S. developers.

There are, however, competitors who make up the minority by playing outside the status quo. Takuma "OGTY" Oguchi is part of that minority. The Japanese player came into recognition following the release of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 as one of the dedicated players in the scene. He would contribute in shaping the once modest scene to something more reputable. Along the way, he would also get hands-on with Injustice. Now with help from a handful of players who were able to import Xbox One consoles, OGTY increased his repertoire to Killer Instinct.

Killer Instinct Bracket Notables for Evo 2014

In its first year of release, Killer Instinct finds its way into the Evolution 2014 lineup. Many people are excited to see the highest level play this game has to offer, all who are fighting to get a piece of Razer’s $10,000 pot bonus. With almost every pool stacked with the strongest in the world, Killer Instinct should shape up to be a fantastic tournament.

I have compiled a list of notable players for Killer Instinct. As a note, I’ve added a double forward slash symbol ( “ // “ ) to indicate what side of the bracket the player is in their pool, as I felt like this was important for predicting pools outcomes. Names separated by the forward slash are on opposite sides of the bracket. Pools with no names in front of it means I have not found notable players in that pool.

Hit the jump for the list.

The TE2 Crossbone, A Modding Bridge Board For Mad Catz Tournament Edition 2 Sticks, Announced By Phreak Mods

Along with the Crossbone, Clayton Knight of Phreak Mods has a solution for those who have Mad Catz Arcade FighStick Tournament Edition 2 models.

Phreak Mods introduces the TE2 Crossbone, a special board made for TE2 sticks to allow easier multi-platform modding. While the TE2 is not common ground, an electrical reference point found in most commercial arcade sticks, the TE2 Crossbone intends to act as a bridge between the original printed circuit board and the secondary PCB. Being the bridge, it allows boards like the Akishop Customs PS360+ to be compatible. Like the regular Crossbone, the TE2 edition will require some soldering during the installation process.

For players who have a TE2 and want to use it for older consoles, this is your opportunity to check this out. Follow Phreak Mods on Twitter for updates on both the original and TE2 Crossbone units. The TE2 stick is available now on Mad Catz!
